  93.                  HOW TO INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE
  94.  
  95.   Use our snazzy setup program...
  96.  
  97.         1) Close down all extraneous Windows applications.  
  98.            (You do have to be in Windows to run WSETUP.EXE)
  99.  
  100.         2) Double-Click on the WSETUP.EXE program or from
  101.            Program Manager, using File/Run, type the drive
  102.            letter of your floppy drive and wsetup.
  103.            ie. a:\wsetup  
  104.  
  105.         3) When the setup program asks for a directory, specify
  106.            an initial directory, or accept the given default.      
  107.  
  108.         4) When the screen comes up that asks you what you want
  109.            to install, do your selections, or just hit the
  110.            INSTALL ALL button.  Hit the OK button to continue.
  111.

  113.      ******************* MANUAL INSTALL ***********************
  114.  
  115.       If you cannot use the snazzy setup program, and must do a
  116.       manual install.....good luck.  Basically installing our
  117.       products without going through the setup program is
  118.       "unsupported", as installation of Windows products does
  119.       get tricky.  However as to not leave you completely in the
  120.       lurch....
  121.  
  122.         1) Most files to be installed by the installation
  123.            program end in an underscore "_".  The files might be
  124.            compressed.
  125.  
  126.            If you received the files on a DISK, the probability
  127.            is HIGH that you must expand the files with our
  128.            WEXPAND (see below) program before use.
  129.  
  130.            If you received the files packaged in a ZIP file, the
  131.            probability is LOW and you may simply rename the
  132.            files to the correct name.
  133.  
  134.            If you try to expand a file that was not compressed,
  135.            the expand program will NOT give an error message,
  136.            and will NOT correctly process the file.  In general,
  137.            if the output from the expand program is smaller than
  138.            the file that went in, the expand program should not
  139.            be used.

  147.         2) The files (generally) must either be expanded into
  148.            files with the correct names, or must be renamed,
  149.            prior to use.  
  150.  
  151.         3) In general, the DLL files should go into your WINDOWS
  152.            directory, or else some directory mentioned in your
  153.            DOS path statement.

  156.                *** USING THE WEXPAND PROGRAM ***
  157.  
  158.  
  159.         1) Copy the files WEXPAND.EXX and WEXPAN1.EXX from the
  160.            installation disk to a temp directory on your computer.
  161.   
  162.         2) Rename the files so that they have a EXE extension.  
  163.            The files were named with the EXX extension to keep
  164.            most people out of trouble.
  165.  
  166.         3) Copy the files you wish to expand into the temp
  167.            directory.  Lets say its WINFO16I.EX_     
  168.            In which case type at the DOS Prompt...
  169.  
  170.            WEXPAND WINFO16I.EX_ WINFO16I.EXE
  171.  
  172.         4) Make sure the output file (WINFO16I.EXE in this case) 
  173.            is LARGER than the input file (WINFO16I.EX_), 
  174.            otherwise the file was not compressed.  In that case 
  175.            delete the incorrectly expanded file and rename the
  176.            original file as follows:

  178.            ERASE WINFO16I.EXE
  179.            REN WININFO.EX_ WININFO.EXE

  181.         5) Repeat for each of the six million files on the floppy.

  192.                     UN-INSTALL INFORMATION
  193.  
  194.  The snazzy setup program will create a DOS batch file -
  195.  UNINSTAL.BAT in the target directory that will un-install the
  196.  product just installed.
  197.  
  198.  You may either review the batch file and perform a manual
  199.  uninstall, or, if you have not installed any products *after*
  200.  installing this product, go ahead and run the batch file.
  201.  
  202.  If you have installed several products before deciding to
  203.  uninstall this, the uninstall will *generally* work
  204.  successfully.  The only problem that occurs is when this
  205.  product uninstalls a file that the other products use.
  206.  
  207.  In general, this will only be a problem when you install
  208.  several of our products, and will be much less of a problem if
  209.  you install products from other vendors.  If problems occur,
  210.  usually all that is required is to re-install the product
  211.  that is complaining about the lack of a file.
  212.  
  213.  A quick review of the uninstall batch file, and deleting a line
  214.  or two for files you know are used by other products may be all
  215.  that is required to successfully run the uninstall.
